Dame Helen Mirren To Be Honored With Golden Globe Cecil B DeMille Award.
The acclaimed English actor Mirren, previously recipient of an Oscar statuette, several BAFTA honors, Globes trophies, five Emmy Awards, along with a Tony Award, is set to add another esteemed prize to her trophy case: the Cecil B DeMille Golden Globe lifetime achievement award.

Dame Helen, 80, who was honored as a dame during 2003 and made a Bafta fellow back in 2014, will pick up the accolade during a presentation on 8 January, shortly before the Golden Globes main event are held, during an event billed by the organization as Golden Eve.
This will also include the presentation of the Golden Globes’ Carol Burnett honor for television achievement, whose winner is still to be revealed. Previous recipients featured Viola Davis and Ted Danson.
“Dame Helen represents an unstoppable talent, and her career is truly extraordinary,” stated the Golden Globes president, president of the Golden Globes. “Her transcendent performances and devotion to her art constantly motivate countless performers and fans too. It’s a tremendous privilege to bestow upon her the DeMille prize.”
Career Highlights
Mirren gained prominence back in the 70s via important performances in stage productions at London’s West End and through the Royal Shakespeare Company and in films including O Lucky Man!, Caligula and The Long Good Friday.
Back in the 90s, her lead performance in the crime series Prime Suspect expanded her audience significantly. Additional notable movies comprise Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park & Calendar Girls.
She won an Oscar for her performance as the Queen in 2006 film The Queen, a part she returned to back in 2013 for The Audience, the theatrical work from Peter Morgan about the meetings with the Queen and prime minister Margaret Thatcher, a role for which she earned a Tony in 2015.
Recent and Upcoming Projects
- Subsequent cinematic works comprise Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda and Barbie, which she narrated.
- Mirren’s turn in the Netflix version of The Thursday Murder Club has also been praised and honors speculation is growing regarding her role as a terminally ill matriarch in Winslet’s directorial debut, Goodbye June.
- Next year, she will appear in the role of Patricia Highsmith in Corbijn’s dramatic film, Switzerland.
Golden Globe nominations will be declared December 8, including Anderson’s One Battle After Another, Zhao’s Hamnet and Ryan Coogler’s Sinners expected to feature heavily.
