A catastrophic blast at a law enforcement facility in Indian-administered Kashmir has led to the deaths of nine persons and injuries to thirty-two more, according to authority reports.
The incident took place when a cache of impounded blast substances inadvertently exploded during handling procedures.
Sequence of Events
The detonation occurred on Friday night at the Nowgam police station, where blast substances taken from Faridabad in the northern territory of Haryana state were being held provisionally.
Local security director declared that the blast materials were awaiting forensic examination when a "extremely tragic" mishap during handling caused their explosion at approximately 23:20 in the evening.
Authority Statements
Police authorities verified that this was an "accidental detonation" and as opposed to a terror incident. "Different conjectures regarding the reason of this event is unwarranted," emphasized the law enforcement head during a media conference.
The police station experienced significant harm from the detonation, with adjacent buildings also being impacted by the intense detonation.
Consequences and Victims
Several automobiles were "covered in blaze and transformed into ashen remains, with fragments distributed across the site," according to police accounts.
"The force of the explosion was so powerful that some physical fragments were found in nearby houses, approximately 100-200 meters distant the police station," reported an official source.
The majority of the victims were law enforcement personnel, along with scientific examination staff, two crime scene photographers, and a garment worker who was present with the personnel.

The territory's Lieutenant Governor stated condolences and declared that an investigation had been ordered into the tragic incident.
