Esteemed Star Pat Finn, Known For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Dies at the Age of Sixty.
US actor Pat Finn, who featured in popular TV shows like Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has succumbed at 60 years old.
The comedy and improvisation performer succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California on Monday following treatment for cancer since 2022, per news outlets.
"Pat Finn saw everyone as a friend - only friends he hadn't encountered," his family said in a statement.
They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".
A Notable TV Career
His debut TV appearance was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the titular character's brother.
He was also seen in a regular part on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He played the part of a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a social organizer who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.
In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he had guest spots on numerous popular shows, like:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
He was most recognized for portraying the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight series between 2011 and 2018.
His work in movies include It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
Off-Screen Life
Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was involved with a six-member improv team called "Beer Shark Mice".
"Pat taught, supported, and inspired countless students over the years and it would be difficult to find someone who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.
In a tribute, peer Richard Kind said there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he posted publicly.
Pat Finn is leaves behind his spouse Donna, his three kids, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
