Ex- Physician Charged with Assault Allegations Involving 38 Patients

Prosecutors report that a former physician now faces charges for committing assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.

Details of the Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.

A senior prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Police Inquiry

These allegations follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

List of Offences

The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences include:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.

Authorities have asked anyone with concerns to contact the investigating team.
