Ex- Physician Charged with Assault Allegations Involving 38 Patients
Prosecutors report that a former physician now faces charges for committing assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
A senior prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
List of Offences
The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
