Triple award winner Nikola Jokic suffers a 'heartbreaking' knee injury.

The star center on the court
The Denver Nuggets star won the NBA's Most Valuable Player title in 2021, 2022, and 2024.

Triple NBA MVP Jokic suffered a "gut-wrenching" knee injury as the Nuggets lost 147-123 against the Heat.

The star player was hurt in the latter stages of the opening half during an accidental coming together with teammate Spencer Jones.

His teammate stepped on the foot of the big man, who promptly went down to the court holding his knee.

The star, who is leading the NBA this season in boards and dimes, posted a score of 21 points and eight assists in the contest prior to incurring the setback.

The player will have an scan on the following day to determine the extent of the issue.

"Instantly, Jokic realized he was hurt," said Nuggets coach Adelman.

"This happens in professional sports. Whoever who is injured, it's tough to see, most notably somebody as special as him. We will know more on Tuesday."

"The team will adjust together. Obviously, right now, I'm more worried just about him as a person and the letdown of going through something of that nature."
