Ukraine has announced the start of large-scale manufacturing for a new locally engineered defensive UAV to strengthen its aerial protection systems. The first three manufacturers have started production, with an additional eleven getting ready to set up assembly lines, the defence ministry announced on Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Tested in Combat Conditions

The drones utilize a domestically developed system called “Octopus” designed to neutralize Iranian-made drones. The system underwent testing in combat and proved successful “at night, under jamming and flying low,” the ministry stated. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established a target of producing up to 1,000 interceptors each day.

Latest Attack on Kyiv Characterized as Deliberate

Volodymyr Zelenskyy characterized Russia’s latest attack against Ukraine as “deliberate, calculated and wicked” after six individuals were killed and dozens wounded in a wave of nocturnal attacks throughout Kyiv.
